HOLLAND REPORT
Utrecht Music Centram, 4 March 1998
Open Road Tour
Report By Roos
After my friends picked me
up from school we hurried to the station to get into the train.
The show would start at 8.15pm and my school finished at 15.20 pm
so we rushed to the train as fast as possible!
After one hour we arrived
at the station in Utrecht and we got out as fast as possible. We
were searching for the entrance to the building and after a couple
of minutes we where surprised by a lot of girls, old woman, old
men and boys who where waiting there for hours. We were really surprised
because it was in a mall, so we could wait inside, warm and dry!
But the happiness flew away quickyly, when I found out that the
line was very long. We sat down and said to each other it wouldn't
be that bad, but off course we were afraid we couldn't see it.
At 18.30 the crowd moved a
little so we all got a bit further to the doors. The bad thing about
waiting inside that Gary couldn't wave at us from behind a window
like Robbie did last time. At 19.00 the doors were opened and when
we finally got in everyone was standing in the little arena. We
saw chairs on the other side and went to that side of the building.
We were in the front row and we had the best view ever imagined.
After another hour waiting and doing some waves and screaming the
support act started. I didn't like her that much so I thought it
was the best time to go to the toilet! But when I was there I heard
her saying: Goodbye! So I ran to the seats again, but they told
me there was still a half-hour to wait for Gary!
After buying the Tour book
and making our cameras ready the video Open Book was shown. Well,
he got me buying it! Then the band came on and then finally Gary
himself came on stage. He started to sing a song; I forget the name
('Labour For Love'.....Ed), which was a little bit fast and
rocky. But to be honest I didn't recognised it. Then he started
to sing 'Love Won't Wait' and off course the crowd got wild here.
The song is such a party one and everyone was singing along with
him. He really looked pleased, and you could see in his eyes he
loves this performing live the most.
Some girl threw a chocolate
bar at him and he ate it with the message: 'I haven't eaten this
in a long time!' Then he sat down behind the piano and was saying
'mmm
' for a couple of minutes, whilst he ate. It was his way
to show he loved the chocolate! He did a Take That medley and meanwhile
there was a Take That picture (I'd never seen it before) on the
video scream. It really touched me when he started 'Back for Good'.
He also sang 'Pray', 'Love Ain't Here Anymore', 'A Million Love
Songs' and 'Never Forget'.
The crowd could sing every
word with him and when he sang 'Never Forge't everyone clapped the
famous little dance. It must have been great for him to see the
whole crowd with the arms in the air exactly at the same time!
Off course he sang a lot of
his own songs also and he did some really funky moves! Well, after
singing 'Open Road' and giving us a lot of kisses, he went away
for the second time but for real now. We all called him to sing
more, but this time he didn't come back.
The hardest part of being
a fan of someone is seeing him leaving at the concert you' re looking
forward to for a long time! But anyway that evening I had no voice
anymore and even the next morning it took a couple of hours to get
my voice back!
I'm not going to tell you
guys anymore, because of the people who still are going to watch
the show, but I can say one thing: Gary is on his best and have
a lot of fun!
It was great
.!!
