Gary signing an autograph for Sanna PLEASE NOTE: All photographs in this section are the copyright of the owner and must not therefore be copied by anyone nor used on any other website or publication. This is Sanna and Trine back again from yet another meeting with THE MAN! A little bird had told us that Gary would be on BCC today (September 11th, 1999)... and we thought we'd fill you in on what happened tonight before we forgot a single detail ... so here goes ... "Finally Saturday" some would say, but for poor Sanna the alarm clock went off at 6 a.m. (ahhh bless her!) some of us have to work for our money!!! hehe .. back home Trine was trying desperately to get through to BBC's ticket office but had to surrender and give up the 100th time the answering machine said, 'sorry this office is closed on Saturdays'. Well when Sanna returned from work we decided to give it a go anyway if everything else failed we could always use our emergency sentence, *heavy Danish accent* 'we com' all the way from Denmark just to see Gary Barlow' a go!!! (well it worked once inside!! Sanna got a t-shirt for having travelled farthest to see The National Lottery (from Denmark), they didn't have to know it only took us 20 min. by tube to get there!!) Off we went to the BBC studios where Gary was to feature on the new series of The National Lottery show. We arrived in time to see a huge queue of people who were apparently all waiting to go inside! Standing there outside the gates trying to gain the courage to ask one of the 'audience service' people for two spare tickets we felt pretty silly, but who cares!!! We went over and asked them and *voilà* before we knew what was happening we were inside the BBC studios sitting right in front of the stage where Gary would play his new single 'For All That You Want' a little later on!!! WAYHEY!!! While sitting there being told what to do (clapping, screaming, etc.) when all these people (the host, guests etc.) we'd never heard of walked on/off stage, we actually found out Gary was gonna do the 'Thunderball Draw' (whatever that is!!! We still don't know after having seen it live, we were too busy looking at Gary! LOL). Finally they did the big count down and the show started... Tom Jones was on first and after that, while the cameras were still on the presenter, Dale Winton, Gary walked onto the stage with his band and a small backing group all wearing red frocks. Gary looked gorgeous as always wearing a red shirt and black jeans! The show's host presented him and the studio audience cheered and clapped, while the band started playing the first notes of 'For All That You Want'. Gary put on quite a performance and it sounded just brilliant from where we were sitting! After finishing the song Gary walked towards the other part of the studio to give a short interview. When Dale Winton commented on his new goatee (which we think looks great by the way, probably the only ones considering other fans reactions *lol* (well I do like it, I really do -Sanna)), Gary said it had taken him ten years to grow, but somehow we just don't believe that!! He was asked what his lucky number was (hence the Thunderball Draw) and he said, 'number one' (because he was born in the first month of the year). They then talked a bit about his 10 number one hits!!! And how it was just a matter of time before he had number 11!!! We know that don't we??!! After that Gary pressed the button and drew this week's lucky Thunderball numbers! When that was over he walked out ,and we pretty much thought that was it! And poor us who had to sit through a performance by Tom Jones and The Cardigans (pre-recorded!! We had to pretend they where actually in the studio, which they weren't!) as well as Tony Bennett (who?) "live" (not) from Las Vegas! *sigh* ... Walking out of the BBC studios we agreed it had definitely been better than sitting at home with our books (we haven't managed to get a TV yet, erm... we haven't had the 'time'). Little did we realise that the best was yet to come! We were chatting to each other about how great the new single is and how brilliant it was to see Gary back. Suddenly we found ourselves at the gates and seeing there were numerous other fans there (who looked too young to be Tom Jones' fans, but not as 'young' as Jan though!!!) we stopped. Then Tom Jones' car left and all he did was wave and drive past. We pretty much just stood there waiting, when suddenly Gary's car pulled up towards the gates and it pretty much looked like he was just gonna do what Tom Jones had done; drive right past us! That however, would be so unlike Gary, so of course the car stopped and who got out but our own Mr Barlow! Gary then signed some autographs and posed with the fans to have their picture taken with him! (us included) Sanna asked him (by now she didn't need to work up any courage, knowing from Thursday the man doesn't bite. He might ask for a kiss, but that's it! Any complaints about that??? Ohh well, thought not..) what he thought of the internet chat-thingy. He said it had been 'great fun' and that he had 'loved it'. So who knows, we might see another one of those again sometime!
After a while he went
back to the car (the BBC secrurity told him he had to leave, because he was
blocking the driveway!!) and drove off, and we went home with yet
more autographs and loads of great memories of a brilliant evening with the
nicest pop star of today! Nicest popstar of the millenium to be precise!
