Well it was Thursday 20th May 1999 when I found out through GB FANS that Gary was going to be appearing at Key 103 Radio Station in Manchester and I just had to go as I hadn't seen Gary since 18th September 1998.

Myself, my best friend Susan and my mam got the 1.00 am bus from Carlisle - arriving in Manchester at 3.30 am!  From then until 6.00 am we sat in Manchester Picaddilly Train Station!  We went to Key 103 at 6.00 am and no fans were around (hehehe, surprise surprise - you wouldn't get us up at that time either! .........Ed)

Gary arrived at 7.20am, and there was only us and one other fan, which was a 50 year old man who was keen on getting autographs. He was looking extremely happy, tanned, slim and was bearing a goatee, which was gorgeous! He was absolutley gorgeous and really friendly, and sweet. I had to look at him up and down!

He pulled up in a black car that Take That used to go about in and I said "Ello' duck!" , and he replied "Aye up trouble, how are you mate?", he walked over and gave me a massive hug and kiss so I was on cloud 9. He asked me if I enjoyed the photographs from that day (meaning Rainbow Fernstone) and he was a real gentleman. He took time getting photographs with us and was willing to sign anything.

I mainly talked to him about Rainbow Fernstone and how he'd been, and about our travels, in which he thought we were absolutey mad!  I then managed to get a GB FANS newsletter signed, he signed it "To all my fans, love Gary".  He talked to us for about 5 minutes before saying he had to go to do the show as they were previewing Stronger.  I got Garys Champagne cork thing as well (just thought I'd mention that!, how sad am i?!)

Gary came out at 10.45, and i was freezing and absolutely shattered!  Now there were 8 fans including us, all from the Manchester area.  Again he stopped and signed autographs and got pictures done with everyone and was down to earth and friendly.  I made him pose for a piccie by himself, which took me three times to get him in focus as he was too close (too close? never!).  I was talking to him about Jasons play Gob, and basically getting swooned off me feet. He stayed out for about 5 minutes because it started to rain!

All in all it was defintely worth going as I was so happy to see Gary again and hope that its not too long until I see him again.  I'd been up since 11.30 am on the Sunday morning until Monday afternoon at 2 pm until I got on the bus, and did i sleep?  Oh yes! Thanks Gary, Juliet and all at GB FANS as if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have known!

(Our thanks go to you Judith for a wonderful report . . . . Ed)
