98: Sound On Sound Questions |
| We are delighted to say that Matt
Bell the writer of the article from Sound on Sound Magazine
has contacted both GBWS and GB FANS. He said ...
" It was an honour to be the only journalist
to be granted an interview with Gary for the rest of this
year and Gary was the perfect interviewee, I'm also pleased
to say that Gary was delighted with the finished piece; he's
asked if he can have a special version of the article printed
and framed to put on the wall of his studio!"
Matt goes on to say that he would be delighted
to answer any questions you have about the magazine article
or what it was like to interview Gary Barlow.
If you have a question for Matt regarding the
interview then please direct your questions to either gbwseditors@yahoo.com
or gbfans@yahoo.com, we will then collate and send them over
to Matt to answer for you. Please ensure that you write "QUESTION
FOR MATT" in the subject field when emailing us. We will also
be asking our own questions and those will be published as

Club that CD2 is a bit delayed due to a problem with artwork
last week, however it will be sent out at the beginning of May.
They apologise for the delay but know you will be pleased with
the results - it will be worth the wait.
CD3 is already recorded, they are just putting together
some finishing touches and it will be ready to go out July.
The Fan Club also pass on their apologies to GBIS members
for the delay but you will appreciate they have received hundreds
of GBIS applications and are busy sifting through them. They
are having to check every application they receive against
the GBIS database so they don't miss anyone who is entitled
to the free CD and T-shirt. Things have been tough and frustrating
for all of us over the last few months, but we know that in
the end we will all be happy with the results.

competition on and also GB FANS Convention. Our own FULL report

| 13th March
98: Fanclub New, GBIS Update |
| ExGBIS members should all now be
receiving your letters from the Fan Club. Helen received hers
this morning, containing the promised GBIS message from Gary
on tape.
The letter explains everything, but basically the breakdown
of the offer is as follows:-
Membership fee £15 for Cassette or £20 for CD,
which is the same joining fee for all members, but what you
get for your money is worth a lot more (ie the value of the
goods you get is worth £31 for Cassette or £36 for
CD).
You will receive:-
1 free T-Shirt, as advertised on the form, just tick your
size (value = £11)
4 Cassettes or CDs of "In Conversation with Gary Barlow"
1 complimentary "In Conversation with Gary Barlow" (value
= £3 Cassette/£5 CD)
The complimentary CD/Cassette will be edition 2 in addition
to the other 4.
Unfortunately, there is one down side. The Fan Club are
unable to send us the "In Conversation with Gary Barlow" edition
1 because they have sold out!
We feel that this offer is very reasonable given the fact
that the GBIS problem really had nothing to do with the new
Fan Club, because they are a new fan club and are compensating
fans from their own funds. We hope you agree with us that
this is the fairest offer they could have come up with in
the circumstances.
If you have any problems please do not hesitate to contact
us.

letter.
To ensure all the people he has on his own lists, as well
as the FCS list, get the letter he is sending it to both lists.
This may mean you get the letter twice, but this is surely
better than not receiving it at all.
We are sure that you will be very pleased with what the
new Fan Club is offering. They have worked very hard on getting
the right deal, in consultation with Gary, and have had a
long wait to get the database. However, all this is now behind
them and they are confident that they have got the right deal
for all fans.
Well, this has certainly been a long wait for all of us,
but we know that Mike has been just as anxious as we have.
He has fought long and hard to get this all sorted and has
always had the interests of all fans at heart.
We would just like to thank all ex GBIS members for their
patience and support during these long months. We would also
like to thank Mike and his team for finally getting this awful
mess sorted. We know it wasn't an easy job.

| 6th March 98:
Linda and Ellen Meet Gary! |
| GG Linda sent us this report of
when she and her daughter, Ellen, met Gary after winning a competition
for tickets to his concert and a backstage meeting.
It was a short meeting , much too short . There were about
20 people who also did win a meeting with Gary organised by
other magazine's and radio stations . And Gary was very late
, so he only spend about 10 minutes with all of us ( that's
30 sec per person ! ) .
I prepared a few questions myself , but I couldn't ask them
either. But yet it was worthwhile . He hugged and kissed us
, signed the tourbook , and took the chocolates . When he
saw the huge amount of chocolates the fans were offering him
, he said : " I think I'm gonna be fat again ". He is smaller
than I expected , and his hair is a little bit brighter than
on photo's.
Ellen told me afterwards that she could feel his heart beating
when he hugged her , and that the sweater he was wearing felt
so nice and soft . When he came to me , I said that I was
Ellen's mother , and I might be a bit too old to be his fan
. He said " Hi , MUM " , with his typical low voice , and
then " Oh no , your not too old !!! " The girl who was standing
next to us , offered him a present , and while opening it
, he asked : " It's not underwear , is it ? " But it was a
pair of socks , and he promised to wear it , not that night
but afterwards .
The magazine's photographer took some pictures, which will
be published in a few weeks time, so we are very anxious to
see them.
After the meeting we went to see the concert, but Kinane
has already started her show , and because we were so late,
we had to stand at the back . I couldn't see very well , but
Ellen said she did ( I'm only 1.62 m and Ellen is 1.73 m !)
. So I was very glad that I went to the concert in Utrecht
the day before.

98: GB Fans Takes Over GBIS Petition |
| With effect from 1 March 1998 the
GB FANS will take over responsibility for the GBIS Petition
List. We have decided to transfer responsibility so that we
can unite ex-GBIS members with members of the new Fan Club who
might be experiencing "teething" problems at present.
GB FANS was created because of the problems we had experienced
ourselves as fans with the previous fan club and because of
the many touching letters Helen and Jan had received from
their fellow fans whilst running the GBIS Petition. We wanted
to provide a service for fans run by fans, where we could
all get together if we had a problem. We also wanted to get
other fans together so that we could make new friends and
have a good time by having Conventions, Dinners, parties, nights
out, days out, weekends away and getting special travel concessions.
If you have any problems you think we can help with, or if
you just want help in general, please contact us at GB FANS.
