21 December 1999: BMG Germany
Report 1/1

Ingrid Narres, one of our GB FANS Beaudies (Germany) management tearm, rang BMG Germany to find out about the article in THE DAILY MIRROR concerning BMG dropping Gary. BMG Germany have stated that they are just as puzzled as fans regarding the source of the article because as far as they are concerned Gary will be releasing "Lie to Me" in February 2000.

Seems the Press are still gunning for Gary! We would suggest everyone ignore newspaper reports in future and keep a check on The Official Gary Barlow Website for any updates on this news. Alternatively, perhaps write to the Fan Club to ask for confirmation.

Have you seen Gary live during the December Tour?

We have had some great comments about Gary's live shows since he began the tour on Friday, including a hilarious account of when Gary sneezed and fell about laughing at the beginning of Forever Love at the Newcastle gig:-)

Since the new tour has now well and truly begun we would like to encourage our visitors to send in their reviews of the shows that they have been to.

Please take a look at what others have done for some inspiration!

If you would like to send photos to us to be scanned for the reports either send them as a gif or jpg file to admin@gbfans.co.uk together with your report or to the below address (enclosing an SAE)

27 November 1999: Fan Club Hotline Updated
Report 1/2

Calling all Fan Club Members. The Hotline was updated on 24 November with very exciting news for Fan Club members. There is a draw for fans to meet Gary backstage at each of his concerts. 10 lucky fans will get the chance to meet Gary at each of the concerts on the Tour.

To qualify for this competition, you need to be a Fan Club member with a valid ticket for the event you would like to meet Gary at. All you then have to do is to write to the fan club giving your name, address, telephone number and the date of the concert at which you would like to meet Gary. The Fan Club will then pick 10 people for each of the concerts and will contact them to make arrangements! What a wonderful opportunity for 90 lucky fans:) Get writing in but remember, you have to be a Fan Club member!

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mike for once again for advertising our events on the Hotline! Mike you are a star! Thank you. The current message on the Hotline gives details of all GB FANS events taking place around the country during the tour and gives out our contact number and address.

27 November 1999: Ian Wright Show
Report 2/2

TV Guides confirm that Gary will be appearing on the Ian Wright Show, to be screened on Friday, 3 December and not 26 November as originally planned. This could well be a case of re-scheduling by the programme makers.

12 November 1999: "Children in Need"
Report 1/2

We have just had confirmation that Gary will not be appearing on this year's Children in Need programme on 26 November. It seems that he was never scheduled to appear, it was an error in the statment on the part of BMG.

12 November 1999: MTV Awards
Report 2/2

Unfortunately Gary did not make an appearance at last night's MTV Europe Awards. We did suspect he may not attend following the cancellation of his Irish concerts and it was noticed that his name was no longer being advertised in the promos for the Awards for the past week.

5 November 1999: Irish Concerts Cancelled
Report 1/1

We regret to inform you that The Official Gary Barlow Website have just announced the postponement of the below gigs:-

  • Wednesday 8th December @ Dublin Point
  • Thursday 9th December @ Belfast Maysfield Leisure Centre

Although this may seem disappointing to all Gary fans that were due to attend these concerts in Ireland, we are absolutely sure that there is a very good reason for this, at the moment the reason given is 'due to unforseen circumstances', but we have every faith that Gary will do his best to make amends to all of the Irish fans.

We remind you that Gary is having a very rough time at the moment, and he needs all the support he can get! Please join in the GB Campaign at URL http://www.come.to/gbcampaign.

5 October 1999:  Official Statement from BMG
Report 1/3

Many thanks to our German team for writing to BMG Germany to clear up the recent malicious rumours about a split begween Gary and BMG. They have received the following official press release:-

"Official statement from BMG UK

5 October 1999:  FATYW in Top 30!
Report 2/3

Congratulations to Gary on reaching No 24 in the Charts. We actually have it at No 23 here in Liverpool! It is the 10th highest New Entry.

This is a wonderful achievement, given the fact that it has had very little airplay in the south of the country and no airplay at all on BBC Radio 1!

There was also very little marketing of the single in stores up and down the country, though again better in the North and in the South.  This wonderful placing has happened all through Gary himself getting out and being seen, no help from his marketing or distributing team! Just imagine how high it would have been if it had received the airplay it deserved!

Well Done Gary -  Keep going, we all need you out here!

5 October 1999:  Join the GB Campaign!
Report 3/3

Are you fed up of all the bad press and lack of exposure Gary has been receiving recently? We know we are!

We feel it's now time for fans to fight back. Gary does not deserve the treatment he has been receiving lately and rather than moan and groan about it we thought we should all channel our energy into a campaign to get Gary the proper recognition and respect he so richly deserves!

We have therefore asked all webmasters and mailing list hosts to join us in the GB Campaign to try to do something to get justice. We began the campaign with a big email day to BBC Radio 1 on Monday, 27 September (to coincide with the release of FATYW).

We have now set up a website to organise and unit efans into action. For further details, please go to http://www.come.to/gbcampaign  You can also leave a message support on the Message Board!

Our plan of action is to write, email and fax as many radio stations, newspapers, television studios and magazines as possible, asking them to please play, feature, interview and generally get Gary more recognition and respect.  This is to be done calmly and diligently until we succeed.

Please do not write angry, abusive or insulting emails, letters or faxes. Please be polite, it works much better than getting the receipients angry!

Special thanks to all the Webmasters and List Hosts supporting this Campaign and joining in our idea for a united Gary front!

Let's show them a bit of FAN POWER!

4 October 1999:  Radio 2 Concert in Sheffield
Report 1/1

Hi to everyone who was able to go along to The Boardwalk in Sheffield on Saturday! What a fantastic night it was.  We were fortunate to get tickets and it was great to meet so many friends from the Internet.

The concert went out at 8.00 p.m. on BBC Radio 2. Gary played a selection of past songs and also from the new album.  We certainly can't wait to get our hands on it next Monday (11 October)!

Gary's personal favourite is "Lie to Me" and we have to agree with him, it is fantastic and more than worthy of a No 1.  LTM will be the next single, due for release on 6 December 1999.

We all had a wonderful time on Saturday, all the songs he sang from the album were excellent and it has been well worth the wait! Congratulations Gary!

24 September 1999:  Calling all UK Fans - URGENT

24 September 1999:  Calling fans in Germany
Report 2/2

MTV, VIVA and VH-1 will get the video withing the next week - they haven't got it so far.  So we have to wait another week until we can request the video there.

Report 2/2

Gary appeared on the National Lottery Stars Show on Saturday for his first live British tv performance of "For All That You Want" on Saturday (11 September). He looked very relaxed and gave a wonderful performance, backed up with a Gospel choir. Only downside was that he was sporting the dreaded beard!

When asked about the beard by Dale Winton (the show's presenter), Gary said "It's taken me 10 years to grow this!". Gary, it will take 10 seconds for us to shave it off tor you! LOL

Gary later spent 15 minutes with fans outside the studio signing autographs and posing for pictures!  Congratulations to Miss J (Trine) for getting in there with the mobile phone!
