20 March 97: Music Week
Confirming what we already knew Music Week report on Gary's new single and album below:

Barlow's New 'Love Won't Wait'
RCA is bringing forward the release of Gary Barlow's Open Road album by two weeks to maximise the impact of the former Take That star's second single, Love Won't Wait, out in the UK on April 28.

Marketing director Kristina Kyriacou says preliminary radio interest in the single has been so strong internationally that RCA has decided to move the album release date to May 26. The third single, So Help Me Girl, is now scheduled for the end of August.

17 March 97: Gary In Japan/Various
I've now contacted BMG in London myself and it is confirmed that Gary is indeed going to be in Japan for the next two weeks.

Also other news from an CONFIRMED official source states that the single "Love Won't Wait", will be released in the UK and Europe and (sorry no mention regarding the States) on 28th April.

The album still possibly to be named "Open Road" due out during the week of 28th May (possibly 26th).

Also the single has been sent to radio stations on 17th March so those of you in the UK listen out because it could be played ANYTIME.

15 March 97: Gary In Japan
This info comes from the Discussion List and was posted by Ikuko:

"It is confirmed by BMG Japan that Gary is coming to Japan late in this month for promotion. Yeah within 2 weeks!!

He will do a live performance. But said to say, it's a kind of showcase for the press and people in the music industry only! Also, his new single 'Love Won't Wait' is due out on April 9th and his first solo album is due out on April 23rd here in Japan.

We, Japanese fans can listen to his album earlier than any other countries, even the UK. Wow!!"

3 March 97: Gary In Mexico
This little snipped from the Mexico media was sent to me by Berenice.

Former lead vocalist of british pop group Take That, Gary Barlow, was on a business trip in Mexico. Seems he came to get some pictures of him taken, expecting that no-one in Mexico would recognize him, since the That had no important impact on latinamerican audiences. But there were some lucky girls who actually met him, asking for autographs and pictures. Of course, these girls were only, four or five, and there were no incidents. Mr. Barlow is expected to come back to Mexico shortly after he releases his new single, "Love Won't Wait", which was written by Madonna. A lot of success is predicted for Gary, who seems to have a very good future in Mexico, and in Latin America as well.

28 Feb 97: Brits News Continued....
The Sun reports:

"Gary Barlow was astonished to see a pathetically inaccurate report linking him to a brunette at the Brits. So who is the mystery woman in the singer's life?

I can reveal her name is Ying, assistant to his ex-manager Nigel Martin-Smith and a platonic pal of all the Take That boys." (And she's also oriental...how can you mistake her for a brunette eh Daily Mirror!!

....But according to Jayne from the DL the Mirror infact did print a picture of the 'Brunette' and it wasn't Ying??Ed.)

27 Feb 97: Single News
According to Tiff's Newspage (sorry Tiff nicked your news!!)

"Gary's next solo single "Love Won't Wait" written by Madonna is scheduled for release on April 7th, followed by another single "So Help Me Girl" on June 9 and followed by (at long last!) the album "Open Road" on June 16.

The album is being released simultaneously around the world and there will be a hugh promotional push so look out for him in your part of the world!! "

26 Feb 97: Smash Hits
Smash Hits reports:

Gary Barlow is still locked away from the public eye preparing for the release of his new single. His record company folk were keeping schtum about when it'll be hitting the shops. "soonish!" was the only bean they could spill! Let's just hope we recognise the rarely spied popstrel when he eventually pops up.

26 Feb 97: The Brits Continued.....
Daily Mirror reports:

"Singer Gary Barlow set tongues wagging when he was spotted holding hands with a mystery brunette. The star was clearly enchanted by his ravishing companion as the couple spent ages chatting at the Hard Rock Cafe.I'm assured everything was innocent, even though Gary's long-time love, dancer Dawn Andrews 26, was nowhere to be seen.

"Dawn couldn't make it to the Brits," said a pal. "Gary holds hands with lots of people. It doesn't mean a thing. The girl he spoke to was an old friend."

25 Feb 97: The Brit Awards
Gary attended yesterday's big bash at Earls Court London for the 1997 Brit Awards, where he presented an award. He was apparenly looking very tanned and happy! He presented the award for Best International Newcomer to Robert Miles (amended!).
10 Feb 97: Manager and Single News
Daily Mirror reports:

The 26 year old songwriter recently signed with Spice Girls manager, Simon Fuller, who plans to launch him in America. Gary, who lives with dancer Dawn Andrews scored a number one solo hit with his ballad 'Forever Love' last summer. His second single written by Madonna is due out in April and he is working on his debut album Open Road.

5 Feb 97: Gary's Whereabouts
Gary has been in the States the last couple of weeks believed to have been recording tracks for his up and coming album and is flying home back to the UK this weekend. Contrary to what The Sun in the previous news item say, Just Seventeen magazine quote that Gary's album will be released simultaneously on 29th April in the UK and the US. Who knows when it will be released I've given up guessing!!
4 Feb 97: Barlow Will Record Song By Madonna
It seems the Sun newspapers are behind us lot on the net, as they report on Gary's Madonna single as if it was new news! Here's what they have to say:

"Gary Barlow's career is finally set to get off the ground - with the help of Madonna. After months of delays, the former Take That singer will release a single by the Evita superstar. The up-tempo 'Love Won't Wait' is due out in April. It will be Gary's first record for more then six months.

A spokesperson for the star says: "He is thrilled to be recording a song written by Madonna. There aren't many bigger stars and he sees it as an honour." Gary's debut solo single Forever Love hit No1 but he still hasn't had the acclaim he had hoped for. Now his solo album is being completely reworked on the advice of his new guru - Arista records boss Clive Davis - and Gary, 26, is in America recording three new tracks.

His spokesperson says: "There have been delays on the record but Gary is a perfectionist and wants it to be exactly right. Clive Davis is taking a strong interest in Gary's career and he suggested the album needed some new tracks. They are now working together on the new material." The album is due out in June."

Jan 97: New Single in March
Smash Hits Magazine reports: Gary is taking a keen interest in all aspects of his forthcoming album. Aside from warbling his heart out, he's apparently been twiddling knobs and pressing buttons in the studio to make sure it all sounds fab. Local residents have reported scary bleeping noises shaking the building. Gaz mate, we hope you know what you're doing!
Gary's new single is due to be released on March 3rd with an album (Open Road) shortly following on 24th March.....AT LAST!!!
10 Nov 96: Gary and Nigel Part Company!
It appears that Gary has now parted company with manager Nigel Martin-Smith, during the last 6 weeks. It has been confirmed by Mark Owen, and reported in UK newspapers and on MTV. Nigel has been with Gary since the beginning of Take That in 1991 and looked set to lead him into his solo career. But all that has changed now and I will bring you more news as it comes in. As for Gary's album, well apparently he just isn't happy with the finished result, and has started again from scratch, but it is still rumoured to be released in the new year (fingers crossed).
10 Nov 96: Gary lights up the Cheshire skies!
Gary had a bit of a party on 3rd November, with a few of his friends invited. Those rumoured to have been there, are Mark, Jason and Howard as well as Jon Bon Jovi! Fireworks lit up the skies surrounding his mansion in Cheshire. The party even made page 3 of the local paper
24 Sept 96: Gary Barlow Day on MTV
Smash Hits reports:

Fans should keep their eyes glued to MTV, September 17th (my birthday...ed.) is Gary Barlow Day, and will include a concert he filmed especially for the channel last month, plus exclusive interviews. Other that that, Gazza's recording new songs for the US market, Forever Love having been considered 'unsuitable' as that all-important first Yank single - Yikes!

20 Sept 96: Open Road
The new single Open Road, is believed to be released on October 14th. It has been seen on two programmes in the UK sung live, MTV and Channel 4's the White Room. Where he also performed two other new songs, Luv Luv Luv and Today I Lost You, as well as Forever Love and a cover version of Roachford's 'Cuddly Toy'. Needless to say Gary was brilliant!!!
12 Sept 96: Gary and Madonna
This report comes from Australian radio - thanks Bree!!.

"It was on the radio down here last Monday that Madonna had written a dance tune a while ago and wasn't going to record it herself, so her record company decided with Madonna to find another artist to record the song.

Together they went through a whole lot of artists like Tony Braxton and Brandy bit Madonna didn't think that they were good enough, they reached the bottom of the list and her manager said "I don't know if you have heard of them but there is a guy called Gary Barlow who has just started his solo career he used to be in a band called Take That. Madonna instantly knew who he was as she had met Take That at the Brit Awards last year.

She asked to hear soem of his solo material and decided straight away that this was the person to do her song. Therefore on Gary's new album Open Road there wil be a dance track which was written by Madonna."

12 Sept 96: Gary Calls His Euro Promo Tour Off
Due to his album being delayed until Easter Gary has now cancelled his up and coming European promo tour off.

More details to come as soon as I hear anything else. For more information see Music Week News.

1 Sept 96: Gary's US Single
News of The World reports:

Gary Barlow has decided not to release Forever Love, his first solo single, in America. The former Take That star scored a number one hit here (UK) with the track as well as success in Europe, Australia and the Far East. Instead he will be recording a song in September just for the US market.

August 96: Gary's New Single!!
I can now reveal that Gary's new single will the title track of his awaited album 'Open Road'.

Apparently it is miles better than Forever Love (if it's possible!) and will be released in October. This news has not even hit the magazine's or newspapers yet! Remember you heard it first here.

July 96: Spice Girls Knock Gary off The Top
Last week the Spice Girls knocked Gary off the Number One spot with their first ever single, making Gary's single Number One for only one week.

The Spice Girls have now been at the top for 2 weeks but I'm sure things will change this sunday, due to the release of Robbie's single Freedom released today, the 29th July.

Gary has been doing the rounds on British television to promote his new song Forever Love. He appeared on Top of The Pops, Friday 5th July, with just himself and his piano (looked a little lost too!).

He will also be appearing on BBC1's National Lottery Show Saturday 13th July at 7.50pm GMT. Most people in Europe by now have see the new video, those who havent't here's a brief description:- basically it's all black and white, with Gary first appearing in bed with just his vest on, next he's at a diner, then onto a building where he is interviewing couples who are kissing and cuddling.

He dreams of his Forever Love! The last thing you see is Gary tucked up in bed again with what looks like a bag of chocolates (just for old times sake eh, Gary!).
