 Dinner in Nyon, in Switzerland

The second GB FANS dinner
organised in Nyon on Saturday, June 6, 1999 was already an improvement
on the last one since our numbers increased by 50% and the Barlowmobile
didn't break down....
Yes, Leigh-Anne and I managed
to track down two more fans : Monica and Livia, two dedicated Gary
fans that had been unable to attend the December dinner. Another
great Gary fan, Joëlle, was unable to attend since her sister
was getting married, but she sent her apologies and was with us
spiritually...
The setting was perfect :
the Café-restaurant de la Croix-Verte has a wonderful
terrace for al fresco dining and thanks to clement skies and soaring
temperatures, we were able to enjoy a great Italian dinner while
the sun set over the mountains and the mosquitoes did great kamikaze
impersonations by diving into our pizzas, risottos and glasses of
Chianti.
Leigh-Anne spent hours deciding
what to wear and finally opted for a little sexy, Chinese-influenced
number, showing off her cleavage and delighting the hovering waiters.
I chose a less revealing but totally charming outfit, preferring
to keep my personal attributes for later use... Monica was Miss
Beige in a show of sophistication and low-key elegance while Livia
also attracted a lot of attention in a little stretchy black dress.
So, all in all, the Swiss Belles did not let the side down when
it came to living up to our name.
We chatted, took photos and
indulged in respectable quantities of Chianti until the stars lit
up the sky. Then Leigh-Anne and Livia took off to Lausanne to party
and use homeopathic drugs at a rave-up. Monica and I, however, chose
a somewhat more staid path and returned to my home to drink Chinese
green tea and watch a Take That video while my husband worked himself
into a frenzy over the finals of the Swiss Football Championship.
With Leigh-Anne returning
to Canada within the next few weeks, the post of co-coordinator
for GB FANS Switzerland is up for grabs.... so if anyone wants to
take on this great honor, please let me know!
