Dinner in Rotterdam
Date: 26 March 1999 (1800 hrs CET)
Location: The Lucky Star Restaurant, Rotterdam

After some weeks of preparation,
tonight our 2nd Dutch Dinner Party would be a fact - Tonight would
be one of the nights....... our night!
Though not as many fans would
attend our dinner as the first, there were still 11 of us (including
Lynn and me)! We were very optimistic about this evening, we were
sure that everyone would have a jolly good time. Before everyone
arrived, Lynn and I hung Gary pictures on the wall and then got
ready to welcome 'our guests'.
Jacqueline and Mar were the first
to arrive, whilst Claire came last (she totally forgot about the
dinner and actually decided to come only a few hours before the
dinner!). Tonight would be a night of film chat, nice food,
prizes and giveaways. We sort of had our own place in the
restaurant, although other people could see our Gary pictures on
the wall quite well!
Waiters and waitresses curiously
asked us about our dinner and pretty soon they even started calling
us 'The Fanclub'. They just didn't understand it was just
Gary fans having a good time! Of course we talked about our
man Gary, but also about our studies and jobs (and children - Pascale
and Jacqueline!) and even about..... Boyzone!
Meanwhile Lynn and I passed on
questions for the prizes. We gave everyone a piece of paper with
a question on it (of course about Gary). They had to answer that
on paper and we drew one and if the answer was right, that person
had won the prize. Claire, Mar. Eveline, Annelies and Pascale
were the lucky wmners. Congratulations girls! Because the
Gary pictures which Lynn and I hung up on the wall were pretty popular
with everyone, we decided to give those away as well.
At one point the restaurant played
"Love won't wait' (Lynn and I had given the restaurant a signal
so that they could play it at just the right time) and everyone
sang along! The people from the restaurant decided to play
the single twice. After a while some guys probably realised
this was not just us having a dinner, but us having a very special
dinner and they waved and shouted: "Yooohooo!". LOL!
At about 21.30 it was time for
desert; ice cream with loads of whipped cream. We talked some
more about Gary and his forthcommg concert in London (most of us
will attend the concert) and at 22.30 everyone went home. So
did Lynn and I!
Thank you everybody for a cosy
dinner and your wonderful support. We're lookmg forward to the next
event, which will probably be in November! Keep checking out
the Event Schedule on the GB FANS Website.
Lots of love,
Essie and Lynn
