GB Fans Second Canadian
Event
Date: April 25, 1998
Location: Tuckers Market Place, Scarborough, Ontario
Written by Canadian Rep. Jennifer Grant
Our second event took place
on a beautiful spring evening in Scarborough, a part of the mega-city
of Toronto.
The first attendees arrived
at quarter to 5 eagerly looking forward to being seated. By the
time 5:20 rolled around, everybody was chatting about Gary and running
up to the buffet for more food. We spent over two hours talking
about a range of topics, sharing the latest gossip on Gary and the
former TT lads.
The topic of Gary's popularity
in North America, and more specifically Canada came up. Many voiced
their disappointment in the lack of promotion on this side of the
ocean and ideas were thrown around about a letter writing campaign.
Of course the evening wouldn't
be complete without a few prizes. Everybody got to test their knowledge
by listening to one sentence and figuring out which Open Road song
it came from. (There were also a few trivia questions thrown in
for fun).
Congratulations to Erin Craddock
for amazing *everybody* with her ability to answer practically all
of the questions! She is now the proud owner of an Open Road single
as well as 3 tapes of Gary/TT radio interviews from around the world.Runner-up
Meilan Ma received a selection of Arista promo cards. The final
prize of the night went to Angela "Only 8 flavours of ice cream??"
Poon who received an autographed promo card for being the only attendee
without one.
The
evening ended with a marathon photo session outside of the restaurant
followed by an exchange of telephone numbers. As if to signal the
end of the evening, So Help Me Girl started playing on the radio
as Jenn and Sharon drove away.
Many
thanks to all that attended! We hope you had as much fun as we did.
Stay tuned to the web site for our next Canadian event, currently
scheduled for August of this year.
