GERMANY REPORT
Ludwisburg, Forum Am Schlosspark,
8th March 1998, Open Road Tour
Report By Ingrid Narres
"Good morning. What was that
for a dream you had? You had such a bright smile on your face when
you was sleeping", said Sabine to me when I opened my eyes. Unfortunately
I really don't know what I had dreamed but when I went into the
bathroom I was humming the song 'Lay Down For Love' .....
During the breakfast we were talking to
some other fans who were sitting in the restaurant about the last
concert. It was again a very good one and we looked now forward
to the one in Ludwigsburg which was a home match for me.
At lunchtime the band checked out. Because
a lot of fans were waiting for Gary in front of the lobby he left
the left the hotel through a side door. We started a bit later after
them but found the bus half way down to Stuttgart on the motorway
again accompanied with some cars. We didn't follow them because
we wanted to go to my home.
As we liked to get very close to the stage
to be able to make some really good pictures we went earlier than
usually to the concert and were standing for about 2 hours in the
queue - I wouldn't have done that if it wouldn't have been for Gary
Barlow.
But Sabine and I were successful in the
end - we got a place quite in front of the stage. Kinane started
her show today at 7.30 pm (half an hour earlier as it was announced).
The audience was in the average older than yesterday and therefore
much more quiet. A bit to quiet for my taste. Kinane and her dancers
gave their best but no-one seemed really interested in them. I hoped
it would change when Gary would come.
The atmosphere became a little bit better
when the video started and also when the band began the show but
it was still very quiet against all the other concerts we've seen
before. But thanks God there was no reason to be frightened - it
took only a little bit longer than anywhere else. After a few minutes
the crowd went wild and it was a great atmosphere.
Gary
and the band gave their best, like ever night. There was nothing
really different with the songs. Only a few things of the show.
Yesterday someone from the audience has thrown a very smooth chocolate
on the stage but today someone from the crew put it before "Back
for good" on the stage. Gary told the crowd like yesterday that
he hadn't eaten chocolate for about two years, ate it and groaned.
After "Back for good" the audience didn't calm down. They were screaming
as loud as they could and they became a reward from Gary with the
old Take That - dance-routine.
Another difference was, when Gary played
"Forever love" someone from the crew put a little golden cup on
the piano next to the three candles. I don't know what that could
have meant but it looked very nice on that place and fits to this
emotional part of the show.
After the show Sabine and I went to Stuttgart
to the hotel. When we came into the bar the band was already there
and welcomed us with a nice "Hello". But we didn't see Gary. Dawn,
Gary's girlfriend, had arrived earlier on the day in Stuttgart and
so he was out with her for dinner at a very nice restaurant (well,
I guess it was a nice one).
Because it was the last night together with
some friends who were travelling also since a while with the band
we spend the evening together with them and had only a little chat
with the band before we left the hotel later in the night, telling
them that it was again a great concert. On our way home I was counting
the time until I would see this brilliant show on my last for a
long time.
