HANOVER REPORT
Hanover Capitol, 28 February 1998
Open Road Tour
Report By Ingrid Narres
We had time today so we got
up later in the morning and had a nice breakfast together with a
friend. When we talked about the concert the night before we agreed
that it was a great gig - the band and also Gary were absolutely
fantastic, there were no technical problems and the audience were
really great.
After lunch the band left
the hotel and went with the bus down to Hanover. As our friend was
going the same way we didn't need to take the train again and shared
the car with her. Five cars accompanied the bus from the Marriott
Hotel in Hamburg up to the arena in Hanover. When we arrived at
'Capitol' we saw that a lot of fans were waiting for the band and
Gary. And they had luck - Gary gave the fans the chance to take
photos of him in the bus.
As the musicians went into
the arena, we headed to our hotel where we made some phone calls
home to some friends telling them, how brilliant Gary's concerts
are. Because the concert started at 7 pm we hadn't much time at
the hotel and went soon back to the 'Capitol' arena. We had to eat
some awful fries for lunch because the promised McDonalds wasn't
there anymore and then we entered the arena.
It was a little bit smaller
as the one in Hamburg but absolutely full. And the crowd was looking
forward of the show. When the support act Kinane came on stage a
big party started. The audience went wild, clapped the hands and
screamed. And well, today she was absolutely in time on stage.
About 8pm Gary's show started.
First again parts of his video, then came the band started with
the music and at last came Gary. The audience welcomed him frantically .
Gary gave his best again as
well the band but today they had some little technical problems
but no-one, accept the 6 guys on stage, really cared about it. The
audience was even louder than the day before - we couldn't believe
it! And the fans had jelly babies yet again for Gary which he shared
like yesterday with the audience.
The band seemed more rocky
than the days before. It seemed that Gary was jumping higher and
was also running around alot more. He was running from time to time
to his keyboard player Bernie, to the guitarists Milton and Paul
(bass), to Mike on the keyboards or even all of them were rocking
together with Gary around the piano. And Gary presented the longest
TT-dance routine of all three days here in Germany.
It was so sad when the show
was over. We left the arena as quick as we could to say good bye
to the guys and wishing them all the best to their 14 hours overnight
trip to Stockholm. But the bus didn't start alone because 13 cars
followed him at the motorway. Good bye Gary and all you other guys,
I can't wait to see you in a week again in Neu-Isenburg.
