Pepsi Chart Show,
London Well travelling to London now from Carlisle seems to be a regular occurance now! ...Anyway it was 13 July 1999 and we set off to London via good old train! When we got to London we went for a lovely Chinese meal in Soho, then onto "Planet Hollywood". We then took to the bar in the Sound Republic - you know, the bar....good excuse for a drink eh? Coffee,tea....nah...alcohol!!! There was me, my older sister Jean and our friend Susan from Carlisle. We also met up with two friends from London. The weather was top, I was in London, drinking, with my friends and waiting on a certain young man called Gary Barlow. I also got chatting to Claire, who I had met at the Astoria (Hello Claire!) so it was lovely to see her again, and we also bumped into Mela from Germany, another friend of mine. We were all there for one reason, to see Gary perform Stronger at Pepsi Chart. Problem was there were three different entrances for him to come in, plus MTV Select was being recorded at the same time, so on top of the Gary fans there were just average London people crowding round Sound Republic. Basically I got lucky, I was sat by the right entrance. I saw Gary amongst the crows, then saw his PA so knew that I wasn't seeing things! I couldn't believe that Gary walked by the MTV Select windows and fans, as no-one recognised him cos he had shades on and didn't pull up in a blacked out windowed car or van! Anyway Gary walked in and said, "Hello Judith, how are you?", and me being totally cool "Oh my god, you just said my name!!!!!". Doh! Didn't I just remain normal! Well, I was on top of the world when he said that. He chatted and got pics done then went in for a sound check. My sister and my friend missed meeting Gary though as they took off to the off license for our evening alcohol so weren't they gutted!!! Gary came on stage a few minutes before he was going to be recorded and looked and all the fans in the venue, and dunno how but he saw me and gave me a wave. I was stuck behind the cameras and this railing (cos I am a fire hazard!!!) and was somehow sat on the top of me wheelchair, waving, and he saw me, so that was cool. His performance of Stronger was excellent as ususal with full support off the audience. Fans from Holland and Germany had even travelled over to see Gary!!! (You can hear me near the end by the way if anyone is interested!!!!!) After he was on stage I won a signed Stronger CD for being the loudest in my section...not that I am a loud person and talk a lot....yeah right! I couldn't get out in time to see Gary leave but I had an excellent time seeing him perform and meeting him. After the show we walked around London, down Oxford street then went for another Chinese meal (we love Chinese food you see!) but were all rather tired so clubbing wasn't done by us that evening, instead it was BED! Anyway that was the last time I saw Gary but I will be going to see him in Liverpool on 30 August and Blackpool on 3 September, so I can't wait. Thanks to the main man Gary Barlow for being so nice and friendly to me throughout his June/July promotion,and to my sister Jean, my mam and friends, Susan, Kerrie, Sarah, Ren, and Nicky for coming to see Gary with me - I couldn't have done it without yas. Thanks for all the laughs! SEE YOU SOON GARY, SO WATCH OUT DUCK!!!!!
